halogenated flame retardants are widely added in electronic and electrical products, textiles as well as furniture and other consumer products, to reduce the flammability of such substances. Because some brominated flame retardants are toxic, bioaccumulative, environmental persistence and to long-range transport through the atmosphere, is thought likely to harm the environment and human health, was included in the Stockholm Convention on persistent organic pollutants list. Forest soil is important for persistent organic pollutants "sink" and potential secondary "source", through the analysis of halogenated flame retardants in our background in forest soil and environmental behavior of halogenated flame retardants can be judged in the context of regional/global migration and fate.

&Nbsp;      recently, Guangzhou Institute of geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences researcher Zhang Gan, State Key Laboratory of Organic Geochemistry group to 30 background field sampling of forest ecosystem in China, analysis of traditional and new types of halogenated flame retardants in forest soil (humus layer and surface soil) in the environment. Group analysis a total of 8 kinds of polybrominated diphenyl ether congeners, 6 new brominated flame retardants and 2 German clone isomers. Studies have shown that decabromodiphenyl ethane in the soil (humus layer: 25−18000 PG g−1, surface: 5−13000 PG g−1) and Decabrominated biphenyl ether (humus layer: ND (not detected) -5900 PG g−1, surface: ND-2400 PG g−1) was the highest. Flame retardant agent in China background points forest soil layer in the of space distribution main is by sources of control, most was disabled of more bromide joint benzene ether homologues, and de clone isomers and four bromide o benzene II carboxylic acid ester of space distribution and based on population density and proposed of potential sources effect index is closely related to, and part new bromide generation flame retardant agent and 10 bromide joint benzene ether is main by control Yu China of industrial zone and flame retardant agent production district. Study finds that polybrominated diphenyl ether congeners and their substitutes (new brominated flame retardants) is a significant positive correlation between, suggesting they have similar patterns of emissions and environmental behavior. Meanwhile, the Group also found that increases in rainfall can speed up flame retardants (especially the new brominated flame retardants) to deeper soil penetration, and this environment may result in groundwater contamination.

&Nbsp;      research was recently published in ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY. The study was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of support.
